English 原文
Thea planted her feet on the smooth boards, bachi lifted, the center strike set to speak like a bell through the platform.
Stage lights laid a warm gleam across the lacquered shell, and her first downbeat rose, dipped the head, and snapped it flat in one clean rebound.
A rack of sticks sat by her knee, pairs arrayed by weight, their tips aligned and waiting in a narrow, careful row.
The arrangement of drums formed a shallow arc, with Keane on a higher voice to her right and the sensei steady at the front.
Bass rolled under her arches as the head’s low modes traveled through the wood, separate and firm from the bright chatter to the side.
Her wrists matched the pendulum of breath she had kept all morning, stroke, recoil, stroke, the timing clean and unhurried.
On the fourth phrase the platform answered with a faint wobble under her left heel, and her next swing paused half an inch above the head.
Keane’s sticks skipped across his rim, and their shorter echoes slid between her low pulses, tilting her sense of where the downbeat sat.
She set the bachi nearer the edge, expecting a quicker bite, and the drum gave a glassier overtone that lived higher than her chest could hold.
Her elbows narrowed, and the cadence that had flowed easily tightened, not to break, only to steady itself against that new brightness.
The sensei lifted a stick in a small circle, and hands across the arc rose to meet the cue without a pocket of silence.
A tiny skid at her right palm said the grip treatment had thinned, so she reached to the rack and took a heavier pair.
Wood balanced differently there, the extra mass slowing the upstroke, and the first test note bloomed rounder while her wrist checked the recoil.
A shallow gouge ran along the rack’s underside, catching a strip of light as she slid a leftover stick aside, but the beat kept moving underneath.
She throttled the rebound by sliding her fingers toward the balance point, letting the bachi sit deeper in the web between thumb and hand.
Now her strikes lived in small experiments, a palm-width inside the rim, a return to center, then a diagonal cross where the head answered quickest.
Keane’s higher voice wove through in bright snaps, and her heavier pair supplied the floor with slower pulses that carried steady through her shins.
The sensei’s circle narrowed, shoulders softened across the line, and the stage settled into a pace that made room for her altered reach.
She held the sticks a breath above the head, waited half a count, and let them drop, the membrane dipping then springing flat as light slid across lacquer.
