English 原文
Ursa rapped the fallen culm bridge with a compact plastic bottle, testing its hollow note. A small dog stood beside the pale gravel path, ears tilted toward the sound. Dale, her older sibling, tapped another culm and wrote a quick mark in a notebook. "The wind is picking up," he said, as leaves lifted in a papery rush overhead. A gust washed over the grove, and the bottle's strike vanished under the tok-tok chorus. During the lull, she tried again, but her grip flattened against the smooth curve. The bottle skittered along the round surface and jolted the bridge without a clear tone. Her other palm pressed the cool bamboo, which rocked slightly on its resting stubs. A loosened sheath trembled somewhere above, then settled back among the emerald leaves.
She moved off the bridge into a dense culm cluster where trunks nearly touched. The space held a compact pocket of shade and layered echoes that folded on themselves. In that quiet, moisture beaded at a leaf tip and fell onto the path with one tap. She turned a dry sheath in her hands and felt its ribbing, like a paper fan. When she rubbed a living culm, a clean green scent sharpened along her fingers. A moving stripe of sun slid across her knuckles and flashed a brief emerald band. The dog nosed the damp earth beyond the path and sneezed at a hidden ridge. Farther on, in a small clearing, she set the brittle sheath down and watched it balance. For a moment, faint creaks hung high above, and a low breath pooled below.
She followed the dog along the gravel, and the fallen culm bridge came up again. The compact plastic bottle she had set down earlier waited near a shallow notch. Her free arm made a loose embrace around the culm to steady her stance. With two fingers on the bottle's base, she tapped once near the middle and lifted. The bridge rocked, its far end nudging a culm stub that gave a small wooden knock. A dry sheath slid from the stub, kissed a standing culm, and sent a softer tok. She eased her shoe against the bridge and caught the rolling bottle lightly with her heel. Above the ditch, the fallen sheath crossed a sun stripe and kept spinning.
