A technician on the service ladder knocked twice against the shaft, metal echoed, and power hummed back through the cabin. The doors finally met, sealed, and the elevator resumed with a lazy glide. Pages now regrouped, Marcel nodded toward the helpers; the woman responded by sliding the last sheet on top of his folder.
