Mila carried two baskets to the grassy river bank. Her goal was a small afternoon celebration with friends. She spread a blanket and unpacked fruit cocktail in bowls. A hammer served as the only tool for tent pegs. Wind rose suddenly and flipped the blanket over the dishes. The hammer rolled, bumped a peg, and hit the basket. The basket slid downhill and splashed into the shallow water.

The clear current carried fruit pieces away downstream. Mila jumped forward, but wet stones made her slide. She fell on one knee, yet grabbed the escaping basket handle. She spotted a loose tent line beside the folded canvas. She developed a quick plan and tied the line to the hammer. She tossed the hammer past the basket; weight pulled it back. Metal caught the handle, and both objects bumped against a rock. Mila hauled them onto grass and straightened the upside-down bowls. Water dripped, yet the fruit cocktail still looked bright. She pressed new pegs, secured the blanket, and placed everything again. Wind slowed, ants marched away, and plates stayed steady. She raised her hand; friends arrived and sat beside the river. They poured juice, and sunlight glimmered on the calm surface. Mila closed the basket and wiped her wet hands.
