Milo pushed a wooden plank across the garden path.

He wanted to build a short bridge over a ditch.

The ditch ran beside an old fence near the lake.

An eagle circled high above, quiet and distant.

Warm sun fell across the quiet lake.

Milo lifted the plank onto two bricks for support.

One brick slipped and struck a stack of small stones.

The stones tumbled forward and hit a metal bucket.

Water inside the bucket splashed over the ditch edge.

The flowing water pushed a light toy boat toward the lake.

The boat drifted, bumped the fence post, and turned sideways.

Its side pressed the plank, sliding the wood into the ditch.

The sliding plank knocked Milo's hammer from the grass.

The hammer rolled down the small slope toward the water.

Milo jumped and placed his foot before the rolling hammer.

The tool stopped, but the toy boat kept moving away.

Wind caught the little sail and sent it across open water.

Thin ripples move across the silver surface near the reed wall.
