The Paper Boat and the Visitor- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Leo folded a small paper boat beside the pond.

He wanted to watch it float across the water.

A single cloud covered the bright sky.

Light dimmed, and a cool breeze brushed the surface.

Toward the boat drifted a small ripple.

The boat turned and drifted toward a thick reed.

Leo gasped and stepped closer to guide it back.

Footsteps approached; a visitor stood beside the willow trunk.

She smiled and held a small net behind her back.

Leo pointed at reed trapping his boat.

The visitor nodded and dipped the net into the pond.

Water swirled; minnows scattered under the sudden motion.

The net brushed the reed and freed the little boat.

Relieved, Leo watched the boat resume its slow sailing path.

The breeze stopped, no new ripple formed.

Sunlight shone again, and the cloud moved behind the hill.

Leo thanked her with quick words.

She waved and walked along the shore.

The boat touched the far bank and stopped near soft moss.

Leo picked it up and turned toward the path home.
