Leah planned quick cookies for the afternoon school fair.
She placed a large metal bowl on the bench.
Flour, sugar, and chocolate waited beside the bowl.
She reached for the sugar container above her head.
The heavy lid stuck and made her hand twist sideways.
A small penguin magnet slid off the cupboard door.
The magnet hit the bowl, the bowl bumped the flour.
The flour jar tipped and burst over the clean bench.
White powder covered Leah, the bowl, and the floor.
Her brother Evan hurried in and lifted a wooden spoon.
He grinned and raised it high like a brave hero.
Leah laughed, then started to sort the scattered mix.
Evan scooped flour back into the bowl with quick moves.
The sugar formed little hills, so they shaped small snowmen.
Each snowman received a chocolate chip for a penguin friend.
Warm cookie scent filled the room while the clock ticked.
Evan pulled the golden tray out of the oven.
He gently closed the hot oven door.
