The Hidden Coin- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Morning light lay on the tall grass.

Lina held a small basket and walked toward town. She wanted ripe strawberries from the market today. Her purse carried sufficient coins for fruit and bread. Lina also hoped for a bargain on sweet honey. A narrow path cut across an empty field. She chose that shortcut to save time. Birds flapped up when her shoes pressed the wet grass.

Halfway across, the basket handle snapped without warning. Red fruit bounced over the path and into tall weeds. Lina knelt quickly but fruit rolled every direction. One berry slid through a fence toward a grazing goat. The goat sniffed the berry and pushed a hidden stone. The stone tipped, revealing a bright coin beneath it. Lina blinked, then picked up the unexpected treasure. Eventually she gathered the berries and walked on again. The extra coin added weight and promise inside her purse. She stepped onto the road, basket steady in her hand.
