The sun is warm.
Waves catch the bright light.
He passes a tall sandcastle.
Shells ring the small towers.
He walks farther along sand.
A shallow pool glitters ahead.
Tiny fish dart inside water.
A wide stream cuts the path.
Sam pauses at the edge.
A fallen plank spans the water.
He steps onto the plank.
The plank wobbles yet holds.
He reaches a grey driftwood log.
He turns around at the log.
He walks back toward the pool.
A red balloon drifts on water.
Ripples catch its long ribbon.
He passes the sandcastle again.
Beside it now lies a paper.
Wet corners cling to shells.
Faded lines show a fish recipe.
Wind lifts one brittle corner.
Sam looks then keeps walking.
He stops beside the driftwood log.
A white feather stays on it.
