A small gate stands half open.
Leo walks on the farm road.
The air is cool.
The sky is cloudy and pale.
He sees a red apple.
He reaches for the apple.
The branch hangs just too high.
His fingers tap empty air.
Soon he spots a way.
A wooden box sits nearby.
He pushes the box under.
He climbs and stands taller.
His hand closes around fruit.
The apple smells yummy and fresh.
The box wobbles and tilts sideways.
A small kitten slides out.
The kitten blinks at the light.
Leo steps down and watches.
The kitten trots into long grass.
The red apple stays in his palm.
