The Runaway Wheel- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

A young goat pushed a light barrel across the barn. Morning light warmed the quiet barn beams. Dust floated in slow waves above the hay. The barrel rolled toward a low table near crates. On the table lay a folded sheet, a detailed plan. Next to it sat the farmer's notebook for the market.

The goat flicked its tail and pressed forward again. Old boards creaked under each quick hoof. The goat gave the barrel one more gentle push. The barrel struck the table leg and kept moving. The table wobbled; the sheet slid and tapped a box. That box toppled, hit another, and bumped a cart wheel. A sparrow perched on a rope and watched the scene. The free wheel rolled toward the open door of straw. A wholesaler carried baskets outside and saw the rolling wheel. He raised a bucket, blocked the wheel, and caught it. Water splashed out and flowed across the floorboards. The thin stream slid under sacks and kept shining in sunlight.
