Boards Clattered, Wind Paused-

English 原文
Rainwater had drummed on the leaves since the dawn downpour, yet Keane’s boot now pressed onto the branch junction. Below, his father shifted the toolbox, and the lid gave a hollow clang that rolled across the yard. Wind threaded the canopy with a low whoosh, flipping leaves so quickly the shifting hush resembled distant surf. The half-finished platform creaked under his weight, promising a small utopia of boards once every gap was covered. First, he aimed to firm the floor by wedging a short plank between the outer limbs. He had already hauled the plank upward in the rope bucket, its rim squeaking each time it brushed the rough trunk. If the wind stayed calm for a minute, the plank might lock in place.
The first shove seated the plank with a thud, but a gust shifted the limbs apart and a crack groaned open. Keane fetched another, longer plank, lowering the bucket again, and its pulleys squealed like rusty gulls above the lawn. When he jammed that second board across the gap, the earlier thud became a muffled rumble as wood pressed tightly against bark. Still unsure, he slid two slim shims between the boards, each hammer tap sending clinks that climbed through the leaves. The packed layer pushed the outer plank outward. It brushed the hanging bucket; the bucket swung sideways and thumped a stack of spare boards near the rope-ladder passage. That thump rolled every board forward, and their corners clattered like loose drumsticks against the trunk.
Before another gust could join the commotion, Keane gripped the wobbling outer plank and yanked the middle shim free. The gap let both boards draw together; their edges rubbed with a soft hush, and the bucket slowed to a gentle sway. Below, the stack of boards jammed against the trunk; the clatter cut short after only two beats. Around him, the tree answered with its own resilience: bark creaked, leaves rustled, but every joint held. Nearby, the rope fibres, still damp, showed raw fortitude, vibrating with a faint hum yet holding every knot. He exhaled while the wind paused, the rope squeaks and leaf flutter forming a quieter ritual between gusts. He slid the hammer across the nearest plank and released it beside the bucket. Below the platform, the rope bucket kept rocking in slow circles against the bark.
