English 原文
The grass at the hilltop felt brittle under Wyatt’s trainers, although dew still shimmered on each blade and promised softness. He pressed one sheet flat on the bench; every crease gave a tiny crack like dry twigs breaking far away. Oscar, crouching below to paint the target ring again, dragged chalk over ground; the sandy rasp drifted uphill. The target circle had been marked earlier by Oscar, and its border looked darker where fresh chalk overlapped old marks. Wyatt clipped one paper fastener to the nose, aimed into the breeze, and let the plane slip away with a paper-thin hiss. It brushed the air for a moment, then thudded on the slope four paces short of the chalk circle. The damp grass bent the nose inward, leaving the sheet vulnerable to the next fold.
Nora trotted down from the retrieval zone, wings of the fallen plane fluttering between her fingers and making taps against her jacket. Togetherness showed in the quick rhythm of their steps as they reached the flat stone that served as their adjustment area. With a gentle touch, she re-creased the bent nose, then added a second fastener beside the first; metal pinged lightly against metal. A banner left from yesterday’s school anniversary flapped behind them, and its cloth echoed across the yard like loose drumskin. They climbed back to the hilltop; the ribbon on the stick fluttered rightward, yet a swirl around their knees thrummed another note. Second launch sliced the air with a sharper whistle and glided level, but swirl nudged it beyond the ring’s far edge. A soft grunt escaped Wyatt as the plane lodged on its side, wings quivering like thin cymbals still shaking after a tap.
Only one fastener remained on the bench, its tiny ring clinking when Nora picked it up. She pressed it beside the other two; three little rings now formed a narrow column that gleamed in the sun. The extra gram felt minor, yet the combined weight shifted the balance point just ahead of the wing fold. Their elbows brushed; the faint rasp of cloth against cloth marked quiet togetherness before the final throw. Wyatt let go; the plane began with a muted shiver, climbed a handspan, and then curved downward in a long, steady hush. It struck the chalk ring, skidded half a pace, and stopped inside; powder rose around the nose in a brief cloud. A shallow groove remained where the paper slid, whitening the grass in a thin crescent.
