Where the Magnet Lifted-

English 原文
A steady drip from the coffee machine tapped against its metal tray, rising and falling like slow knuckle-raps on tin. Viola stepped into the break room she had crossed a dozen times already, familiar with the soft rubber thud of the fridge seal and the cool counter that always met her wrists. She carried a freshly printed schedule and, by instinct, brushed crumbs from the glossy notice board before pinning anything. The coloured magnets showed a small deviation today: the red one usually sat top-left, yet it now rested halfway down the frame. She pressed a spare green magnet above the page, hoping the extra grip would keep the paper square.
The lower edge curled almost at once. Viola’s fingers had to navigate the narrow gap between stacked mugs and board while she slid a second magnet beside the first. Each disc landed to mimic the row she remembered, yet the sheet still sagged. She tore a sticky note in half, folded the strip twice, and pushed it behind the magnets to simulate a wedge; the added bulk felt gritty under her thumb. The board surface, smooth and faintly cold, offered little friction, and the three stacked layers now pulled together, dragging the schedule downward until it buckled along the fold.
She pinched the middle magnet and snapped it free. The remaining two held firm, their lighter load finally lying flat against the polished board. Where the magnet had sat, a pale scratch shaped like a tiny sailboat caught the afternoon light—quiet evidence that someone long ago had pressed too hard with a marker. Viola traced the rough outline once, then let her arm drop and turned toward the corridor. A wrapped mint, dislodged by her elbow from behind the mug stack, slid across the counter and stopped beside her fingers.
