Cold air brushes Clyde's cheek. He stands beside the desk. A dry peel curls there. Dust sits on its edge. A small doctor poster hangs. The poster shows an evening sky. Fresh plum paint gleams nearby. The stroke looks thick and soft. Clear water beads around it. Its shine edges toward dull.

A tall paper stack leans. It hides part of the stroke. Clyde bends and peers lower. Rain taps the window above. "Wet paint here," the teacher says. A rolling chalk piece bumps the stack. The stack shifts and settles again. The full stroke lies visible. Cold air brushes Clyde's other cheek.
