Splashing water taps my ears now. I stand on warm flat sand. Bright light rests on the water. I see a striped pillow nearby. Sun heat drains its strong color. The cloth now looks chalk pale. Soft air lifts one loose thread. That thread rasps like tiny paper.

A square gift box sits farther. Wind pushes sand over its lid. The red paper loses shine slowly. Faint letters read along one edge. The letters blur under drifting grains. I hear the paper crack softly. I look again at the pillow. Only a thin cloth shell stays. Near my foot lies a mood stone. Its blue skin fades toward grey. The last pillow thread drifts off. A pale patch of sand stays.
