A small bark pops on the shelf. Light falls. Alma kneels on the soft mat. Her knees press a cool dry patch. Faint wheel marks lie under her shins. The father sits by the shelf with a bear. "It is bright here," he says. A faint wood smell stays here.
Alma leans and looks through a gap. The gap sits between two boxes. Inside, small blocks make a cafe. A box edge blocks her view.
Alma stands and walks left. She stops. She looks through the low space. Dust moves. Alma sniffs the woody air. A round toy tomato sits there. "I do not see it," the father says. Alma turns and steps away. She disappears behind the low chair.
