Birds wait.

A toast smell drifts from the counter.
Juno leans on the sill.
The glass is cool and smooth.
Fresh fog sits by faint prints.
The small world outside moves.
A bird pecks at the seed.
Juno lifts the soft cloth.
She wipes a clear patch.
A tiny puff of breath fogs it.
Fog forms.
Juno steps back a little.
She wipes once more.
The ledge and beak look clear.
Birds wake on the high branch.
One turns its head slowly.
Juno watches the small feeder.
Seed husks rest in a corner.
Outside, a tiny animal lands on the high branch.
