English 原文
Quinn and Hedy walked the narrow lane between stalls under a broad canvas shade.
Voices rose and crossed each other, then drifted upward into the open sky without return.
Warm air touched his wrists, and dry herbs sent a soft green smell across baskets.
A market cat slid under a table and watched with its ears turning left and right.
At a stall of bowls and pans, a small wooden spoon rested near Quinn's hand.
He took it with a soft grip and tapped a ceramic rim like a tiny bell.
The ring spread and thinned under a burst of chatter, then found a brief recovery.
He slid the bowl toward the center of the woven mat and tapped it again.
This time the sound stayed clear, and the cat's whiskers twitched at the note.
Quinn tried the glass jar beside it; the cool side met his knuckle with a bright ping.
A tin plate lay near the edge, so he gave it a small tilt and tapped.
Metal answered with a higher ring, then softened when a cloth corner muffled the rim.
Each thing held potential for a new pitch, and he moved lightly from piece to piece.
A handcart rattled past, and the wooden handle creaked while Hedy shifted their canvas bag.
The market kept flowing; feet brushed the lane, and coins clicked over nearby palms.
Then the cat stepped on the tilted plate's edge, and the spoon slid and tapped two rims.
A small chord rose, bright and brief, and Quinn's shoulders lifted at the sudden sound.
He steadied the plate and let it rest near the bowl, then tapped the jar again.
The new ring met the cat's bell, which jingled once and fell quiet under the hum.
Bowls now sat spaced a little wider, and faint lines of dust showed where they had been.
Hedy stayed within reach, her hand easy on the bag, while the lane flowed around them.
The bell touched the collar ring and ticked.
