He looks through the clear patch.
A small garden bird stands.
It stands on the smooth wooden ledge.
Its soft reflection steadies on the cool glass.
A thin clear gap forms at the fog edge.
This hour is quiet.
Henrik scans the bird-cards on the sill.
The aunt slowly arranges the row.
A card edge lifts.
It blocks the bird's reflection.
A small letter D shows on the corner.
Henrik says, "day."
Then he says, "dream."
The aunt sets the card flat again.
The clear patch opens on the fog.
Henrik tilts his head a little.
The soft reflection returns to the cool glass.
It steadies.
