He wanted one clear photo of the bright morning light.

A long path let him wander between maple and pine tree trunks.

At that moment wind shook branches above his head.

A dry cone bounced down and tapped the lens.

Startled, Leo stepped back and dropped the open camera bag.

A squirrel dashed over, nose twitching at the rolling snacks.

Its quick paws scattered batteries across the stony path.

Leo kneeled, gathered the loose pieces, and closed the bag.

The squirrel climbed a nearby trunk and vanished among needles.

A fresh gap between branches now framed the bright sky.

Without delay, Leo slid the strap around his neck again.

He adjusted the focus and waited while the wind calmed.

A bright bird landed in the new opening above him.

Its wings stayed still, as if ready for a portrait.

Light touched the feathers and showed every tiny stripe.

Leo pressed the button and captured the clear morning scene.

He lowered the camera with a slow breath.
