His boot stops at the edge.
Water ripples reach his toe.
He nudges a stick across water.
The stick floats back toward him.
Mae lifts a flat stone nearby.
She places it on the puddle.
The stone sinks with soft thud.
A large leaf drifts beside them.
Vernon slides the leaf toward island.
Ripples carry the leaf farther.
A carpenter leans through the window.
A saw rests on his bench.
A wood scrap falls from his hand.
The scrap drifts beside the island.
The puddle surface now shows blue.
