A fat raindrop slides down the foggy window. Nell stands on the cushion. Grey light fills the room. She holds an octopus sticker. She lifts it toward the glass. A thin wet track curves on the pane. She steps to the sill edge. A damp ring circles a dark spot on wood. She steps left. A foggy oval rests low on the glass.

The glass stays wet, so the sticker slips. Nell pauses to wait. She spots a folded market bag beside the cushion. An idea jar sits near the bag. She takes the dry bag and pats the glass. Water beads slide away. She presses the octopus. It sticks at last. She leans back to look. A bright blue marble clinks onto the sill.
